IAG has announced that Wendy Thorpe will join its board as an Independent Non-Executive Director.

The insurer says Ms Thorpe will provide the board with financial services expertise and insight to help with its executive decisions.

Ms Thorpe served as a Non-Executive Director at NZ-based insurer Tower for five years, where she chaired its Board Risk Committee.

She has also previously held roles at Axa, ANZ and AMP and currently serves as the Chair of Epworth, a Victoria-based non-profit private hospital group.
