IAG has appointed Helen Nugent and Duncan Boyle as independent non-executive directors.

Dr Nugent chairs the Australian Rail Track Corporation and the National Portrait Gallery, and is a non-executive director of Origin Energy. She is a former chairman of Swiss Re (Australia).

Mr Boyle is chairman of TAL Dai-ichi Life Australia, and a former non-executive director of QBE, Stockland Property Group and Clayton Utz. He previously held senior roles with Royal & SunAlliance Insurance in Australia, New Zealand and Europe.

Mr Boyle was also on the board of the Association of British Insurers, the Insurance Council of Australia, Global Aviation Underwriting Managers, AAMI and Apia.

IAG Chairman Elizabeth Bryan says the pair will strengthen the board in the areas of financial services and insurance, and bring general strategic and corporate experience.
