IAG ‘accelerates’ electric fleet shift
IAG says it will transition its fleet of more than 900 vehicles in Australia and New Zealand to electric or hybrid models by mid-2030 and is installing chargers at employees’ homes.
The insurer already has 110 low-emission vehicles in its fleet, and the New Zealand fleet’s shift to electric and hybrid is on course to finish by the end of this year.
“We are accelerating our efforts to understand and manage our own climate impact, seeing first-hand the effect climate change is having on our customers and direct business operations,” CEO Nick Hawkins said.
Kia will supply IAG’s Australian fleet, and the charging infrastructure will be provided and maintained by JET Charge.
“Infrastructure is a key barrier,” JET Charge CEO Tim Washington said. “Our end-to-end charging as a service solution demonstrates what running private charging networks look like at scale.”
