Horsell increases its profile
Broker Horsell International has acquired Melbourne brokerage Stewart Haig Insurance Brokers and Weston Insurance Services – which operates in both Sydney and Melbourne – as it embarks on a program to bulk up in Australia’s two largest cities.
Group Director Retail Operations Rohan Stewart says the acquisitions are part of a five-year plan in which the group will actively seek out takeover opportunities. He says the acquisitions will expand the group’s client base to more than 7000 and boost premium under management to more than $100 million.
“Stewart Haig provides a strong commercial/SME focus for the group in Victoria through a well-known brand. The acquisitions move us towards our aim of having a meaningful presence in our two primary markets of Sydney and Melbourne.”
Stewart Haig Director Ivan Vojlay – who will be staying on with the company for at least another three years – told Sunrise Exchange News Horsell is a “good match” for his company.
“We see this as a very positive move for both our staff and our clients as we believe the combined resources of both organisations will allow Stewart Haig to further enhance its presence in Victoria.”
Horsell says Westons will assist the group in having a greater focus on corporate clients in Sydney and Melbourne.
