Honan takes 3% stake in real estate disruptor

Honan Insurance has agreed to invest $500,000 for a 3% stake in B2B real estate disruptor The Agency Group Australia, and says it is also in “widespread talks” about other possible partnerships.

The Melbourne-based group is in discussions with a number of clients, organisations and industry groups on the feasibility of partnership and alliance frameworks.

CEO Andrew Fluitsma says Honan is well positioned to assist organisations with innovative, client-focused, cost-effective insurance solutions.

In a share placement announced on Wednesday, ASX-listed-The Agency will issue 7.7 million shares at $0.065 each to Honan, as well as one attaching option for every 2 shares, subject to shareholder approval on August 28.

Honan gains exclusive access to promote its services across The Agency’s network of agents and landlords. In turn, The Agency will access Honan insurance technology, industry data and corporate advisory services, including support from Honan’s Real Estate Solutions team.

Perth-based The Agency has 272 agents operating in eight Australian locations and says it is “disrupting the real estate services industry by returning value, previously given to franchisees and offices, to agents and shareholders.”

It offers property sale and management services, as well as mortgage financing, financial planning and conveyancing settlement.
