Hollard makes life play

Hollard Australia has acquired 50% of a life insurance administrator as part of its drive towards a direct licence.

The South African-owned company views its investment in Sydney-based Blue Inc as a complement to its existing life distribution network.

Hollard Australia MD Richard Enthoven says the insurer is looking at expanding its life footprint before applying to write its own business.

This is expected to occur within 18 months, although Hollard will also consider acquiring an existing insurer.
