Genworth Mortgage Insurance Australia has appointed Leona Murphy as an independent non-executive director to its board.

Ms Murphy, who is currently a non-executive director at Liberty Financial and RACQ, will join the insurer on November 1.

She has held several senior management roles across the industry, including Chief Strategy Officer at IAG and Strategy and New Business EGM at Vero.

“The Board looks forward to Leona bringing her skills into the Boardroom to help oversee the delivery of Genworth’s strategic priorities for sustained success and growth as we guide Genworth to becoming the leading choice for flexible home ownership solutions,” Genworth Chairman Ian MacDonald said.
