Genworth achieves sustainability list progress
Genworth says it reduced its environmental and carbon footprint last year by more than one-quarter.
The lenders’ mortgage insurer’s sustainability report shows indirect energy consumption fell more than 27% compared with 2017, while greenhouse gas emissions were down 27.3%.
Genworth says its decision to vacate one floor in its head office played a major role. It also implemented energy-efficiency initiatives, including movement-activated lighting.
Air travel emissions were reduced by 24%.
The company made $254,000 of charitable donations last year to Vinnies, Forsight Australia and OzHarvest. About 63% of employees volunteered, contributing 1260 work hours.
The company reduced its gender pay gap to 5% from 7%.
