Gallagher has introduced a comprehensive food production insurance program for the food manufacturing and supply industry.

The broker says some insurers have left the food insurance market amid concerns over risks with production and storage.

National Head of Food Production Stephen Elms says risk associated with producing food is becoming more complex, while demand for Australian products is growing.

The program will cover supply-side considerations, manufacturing and production capabilities and machinery, and appropriate management of engineering works and water treatment.

Gallagher says it is also discussing reputational risk issues with food producer clients.
