Arthur J Gallagher CFO Sue Houghton is to become GM Insurance at BT Financial Group, Westpac’s wealth management arm.

Ms Houghton, who starts the role on March 7, says she looks forward to further developing BT’s insurance business during an “exciting and challenging time” for the industry.

BT CEO Brad Cooper says Ms Houghton boasts deep industry experience, having previously held roles such as CFO for Wesfarmers General Insurance and head of claims at IAG.

“Sue is a highly regarded member of Australia’s insurance industry and we are delighted she is joining our executive to lead the insurance business as it continues to grow,” he said.

The appointment comes after David Lees moved from BT to Westpac as Deputy CFO late last year.

Head of General Insurance Gerard McDermott and Head of Life Insurance Phil Hay will both report to Ms Houghton.
