Gallagher Bassett expands Asia-Pacific business
Claims management services provider Gallagher Bassett is expanding in Asia in a move it says will tap into growth markets, while also offering benefits for Australian clients with operations in the region.
The company has appointed Ming Wong as Senior Vice President - Asia. Mr Wong will be based in Singapore and report to Brisbane-based Gallagher Bassett International Chief Client Officer Eddie Harris.
Gallagher Bassett says Asia-Pacific insurance is experiencing strong growth, largely driven by China and a positive performance in South Korea, and the firm is well equipped to maximise claims outcomes for new and existing clients.
The US-headquartered company has Australian offices in Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide and Sydney, while it also operates across New Zealand.
“Many of Gallagher Bassett’s Australian clients have operations in Asia, so the expansion will allow Gallagher Bassett to better service their global needs with on-the-ground resources,” Client Services Director Michelle Klobas told insuranceNEWS.com.au.
Mr Wong has more than 25 years’ experience in financial services, including senior roles at Prudential Assurance Corp, Aviva Asia and IC Frith & Associates.
“We are witnessing a rapidly changing world, from market hardening, rising cost of risk, distribution and underwriting, and shifts to employment and operational delivery in commercial sectors, all while the insurable world continues to grow,” Mr Wong says.
“Our expanded presence across Asia will allow us to better support our clients’ needs locally, drawing on our global expertise and multi-disciplinary team.”
