FM Global opens risk management centre in Singapore
US-based commercial property insurer FM Global has launched its first “client-centred experiential risk management facility” in Asia Pacific, located at Singapore Science Park.
The new facility, titled the FM Global Centre, aims to provide organisations with the opportunity to “learn about and experience solutions grounded in the company’s scientific research and engineering expertise”.
“The FM Global Centre embodies how businesses can take action to realise the business value of risk improvement and increased resilience,” FM Global President and CEO Malcolm Roberts said.
The $SGD80 million ($87.3 million) facility will host interactive simulation labs and learning spaces to help organisations protect owned locations and strengthen supply chains by promoting greater climate resistance against natural hazards.
The centre will host experiential areas on flood simulations and material impact testing to demonstrate risks presented by severe weather events.
FM Global says the centre will also be the new home to the company’s Asia operations as it celebrates 50 years of operations in Australia.
“The FM Global Centre in Singapore builds on nearly two-centuries of global engineering and loss prevention experience, tailored for Asia Pacific’s unique business and geographic context,” FM Global Senior Vice President, Operations Manager Australia and New Zealand Andrew Stafford said.
Mr Stafford says the centre’s opening represents FM Global’s “investment in the region as well as our commitment to improving the resilience of our clients across the APAC region”.
