Finance Sector Union keeps up pressure on Suncorp
The Finance Sector Union (FSU) has called on Suncorp to be “more open” about offshoring jobs.
The insurer has scoping work under way on whether jobs can be offshored to India and has had meetings with the FSU to outline its plans.
But FSU spokesman Leanne Shingles says Suncorp has become less willing to provide specific information after previously giving clear details about job losses in Australia.
She says the process is very worrying for employees, even if their area is not being scoped, and Suncorp should be more transparent.
About 150 jobs have gone offshore so far and a Suncorp spokesman says the company has been meeting with the union every fortnight to provide an update on various initiatives, which are all at different stages of maturity.
“If there is ever an impact on employees, we inform those employees and the Finance Sector Union immediately,” he said.
