Familiar face to help Snowball at Suncorp

Suncorp has confirmed a former colleague from Britain will help new CEO Patrick Snowball get up to speed with the group's business operations when he takes up the reins on September 1.

A spokesman confirmed to insuranceNEWS.com.au that former Aviva UK sales, marketing and underwriting chief Bridget McIntyre will be an independent adviser for "between three and four weeks".

Ms McIntyre managed the operations when Mr Snowball was Aviva's general insurance CEO in the early part of this decade.

He went on to become UK CEO of Aviva, but left two years ago after being overlooked for the top job in the Aviva global group.

Ms McIntyre was appointed UK CEO of RSA (formerly Royal & SunAlliance) in 2005. She stepped down last year to spend more time with her family.

Meanwhile, Mr Snowball has made it clear his four-year Suncorp contract doesn't mean the British market has seen the last of him. In an interview with the UK Insurance Times, he said: "The four years will be a fantastic time, but I look forward to coming back to the UK."
