Exit Norwich Union
Aviva will phase out the Norwich Union brand name over the next two years as it brings its global general and life insurance businesses together under the “One Aviva” banner.
Aviva had retained the well-known and trusted consumer name in the UK after its global rebranding from CGNU in 2002.
Following the makeover, Aviva sold off many of its general insurance business, including CGU in Australia and New Zealand, which was bought by IAG. CGNU itself was formed by the merger of Norwich Union and CGU in 2000.
Aviva continues to operate in the Australian life insurance market, which Norwich Union entered more than 50 years ago.
