Ex-Lumley chairman dies
Former Lumley chairman Sir Robert Crichton-Brown has died aged 93.
He was MD of the family-owned business from 1952, then served as chairman from 1974 to 1989. He remained on the board until 2003, when the company was sold to Wesfarmers.
Born in Melbourne in 1919, Sir Robert was also a vice chairman of NAB and cigarette manufacturer Rothmans’ Australian subsidiary.
He married Norah Turnbull in 1941. She died in 2011. The couple had a son Anthony – who also worked in the family business – and a daughter.
