Ex-Lloyd’s director joins QBE board
QBE has appointed international insurance executive and former Lloyd’s stalwart Rolf Tolle as a non-executive director.
Mr Tolle is a former franchise performance director at Lloyd’s, a role he held for seven years.
When he stepped down in 2009 he was credited with being “one of the main architects of the market’s resurgence as a leading force in the international insurance industry”, and was presented with the prestigious silver medal for services to Lloyd’s.
Mr Tolle has held leadership positions with insurance companies in Britain, Germany, Norway and the US.
Until recently he was a director of UK-based specialist insurer Beazley and Lloyd’s managing general agency Beazley Furlonge.
Other previous positions include chief underwriting officer for Lloyd’s syndicate Faraday, CEO of Europa Re and MD of Norwegian insurer Uni-Polaris.
Mr Tolle is based in the UK.
