Emergence streamlines personal cyber access
Cyber insurer Emergence has introduced technology changes that enable its individual and family protection policies to be purchased directly through broker websites.
The company launched the personal product almost a year ago amid rising awareness of repercussions from cyber events including hacking, ransomware, identity theft, cyber bullying and personal financial loss.
The Personal Cyber Express technology enables brokers to offer a co-branded online product that non-business clients can buy quickly and efficiently with minimal interaction.
“We have listened to our broker partners who were keen for us to develop a frictionless solution for individuals and families to manage their ever-expanding exposure to cyber attacks,” CEO Troy Filipcevic said.
Statistics show e-commerce has grown 80% since the World Health Organisation declared COVID-19 a pandemic and online communication has surged.
“Criminals are also using technology to scam people and steal their identities,” Mr Filipcevic said. “There’s also been a 40% increase in cyber bullying.”
The personal policy doesn’t cover business enterprise risks, including for home businesses, which are covered under a suite of commercial policies.
