Dual enters general liability with mining facility

Dual Australia will begin underwriting public and product liability covers for the mining and resources sector following the acquisition of a business portfolio from Perth-based broker CKA Risk Solutions.

The resource industry liability facility portfolio Dual has acquired has a particular emphasis on mining contractors and exploration companies.

The move marks Dual’s entry into general liability in Australia, having previously focused exclusively on financial lines and accident and health.

MD Peter Bailey told insuranceNEWS.com.au the acquisition is “part and parcel of Dual becoming a multi-line specialist”.

Dual will assume responsibility for all new and renewal business in the portfolio from March 1, and Mr Bailey says it will be “business as usual” for brokers and clients who use the facility.

CKA Risk Solutions Director John Carrigg says that the sale will allow CKA to focus on its core business.

“We are proud to have developed this product. However, we feel now is the right time to transfer the portfolio to a professional underwriting agency to enable this product to be delivered to a broader range of insurance intermediaries.”
