Dual Australia reshuffle reduces confusion

Dual Australia has restructured its business “in a bid to end customer confusion”.

It follows a survey of 320 brokers which revealed many didn’t know who to go to when dealing with Dual.

MD Damien Coates told insuranceNEWS.com.au there were previously no defined divisions in the company.

Under changes introduced last week new COO Peter Bailey takes on responsibility for underwriting management as well as product development.

Three new divisions have been created – schemes and facilities (financial lines), corporate and underwriting support.

Dual Australia has been running since 2004 and now has premium income of $60 million.

Mr Coates, who is also Chairman of the Underwriting Agencies Council, says the broker survey also called for him to “play a more visible role on the ground” in the business.

While he has been “caught up with dealing with the management side of the business over the past few years”, the new structure will allow him to get back to dealing with clients.

“I will be sitting down doing deals and getting my hands dirty with brokers, which is where I prefer to be.”

He says getting back into the field will also help him to concentrate on expanding the business into the Asia-Pacific region. While he’s pleased with the company’s expansion into Kong, he says the company is also looking to expanding into NZ and Singapore.
