Dispute goes behind closed doors
NRMA’s two warring groups have taken their case out of the court and behind closed doors.
NRMA Insurance and sister organisation the National Road and Motorists’ Association were due to thrash out their problems in the NSW Supreme Court last week.
The dispute over NRMA Insurance’s decision to close 21 branches was a major embarrassment for the insurance group’s Acting CEO Ian Brown, who moved quickly to defuse the situation and promote serious talks with NRMA Chief Executive Rob Carter.
NRMA Insurance has offered to turn over the branches to the motoring organisation, but at the end of the week discussions seemed to have centred more on the exact amount of notice required under the business relationship agreements.
