Cover-More launches add-on cancellation protection

Cover-More has introduced a market-first cancellation product for its travel insurance, protecting against a wider range of circumstances than previously available.

The add-on covers cancellation reasons including sickness of a friend, flight anxiety, work issues, relationship break-ups, unexpected household expenses and pregnancy.

Travellers can claim for non-refundable prepaid costs including flights, accommodation, cruises, tours and transport, with up to 75% of the cost covered to a maximum of $10,000.

Cover-More Australia CEO Todd Nelson says the product is an “evolution of the Cancel For Any Reason product we had in market prior to covid-19. While the standard cancellation cover offers good broad protection for travellers, Cancellation Plus Cover offers more cover for those times when life or other complications get in the way of travel plans. We can’t offer cover for everything, but we have tried hard to offer cover for as many situations as possible with this new cancellation cover variation.”

Mr Nelson says extreme situations that are not typically covered by standard travel policies, such as war, terrorism, nuclear meltdown or government-mandated border closures, remain excluded from the add-on.
