Zurich-owned travel insurer Cover-More has acquired British niche insurance intermediary Blue Insurance.

Blue Insurance provides car hire excess insurance, home cover and tailored cover for pets, bikes and smartphones. It has multiple online brands in the UK and Ireland.

Cover-More CEO Mike Emmett says the acquisition will complement the group’s Halo Insurance Services business in the UK.

He says the acquisition provides scale in online travel insurance and car hire excess insurance.
