CommInsure to underwrite motor
CommInsure has ditched Allianz to underwrite its own car insurance in a bid for greater control over its premiums.
And the bank-owned insurer has appointed Lumley General Insurance to manage claims on its motor policies.
CommInsure MD Simon Swanson told Sunrise Exchange News the company expects to gain better cost control due to the greater amount of customer information held from in-house underwriting.
"It's about integrating into our systems," he said. "This gives us better access to customer information, including in branches where we are able to look up people's insurance online."
CommInsure claims it is now able to offer more policy features and benefits in line with its aims to improve product flexibility and choice. Allianz formerly ran its underwriting and managed the claims process.
But Allianz will continue to underwrite CommInsure's CTP policies in NSW and maintains its involvement in CommInsure commercial lines and funds management.
