Chubb taps internal ranks for new Country President Australia

Chubb has appointed Peter Kelaher as Country President for Australia and New Zealand following the departure of Jarrod Hill, who has left to join IAG.

As reported in a Breaking News by insuranceNEWS.com.au last week, Mr Hill will start in September as Group Executive Intermediated Insurance Australia.

Mr Kelaher was previously Chubb Senior VP and Head of Property and Casualty for Australia and New Zealand, a role he took up in 2016 until his promotion last week.

In his new role, he will have executive operating responsibility for the company’s general insurance business, including commercial property and casualty, traditional and specialty personal lines, and accident and health insurance.

Mr Kelaher will oversee all facets of the business including strategy, product and business development, underwriting and service operations, and profit and loss performance.

“It is a great pleasure to appoint [Mr Kelaher] to lead our Australia and New Zealand general insurance operations,” Senior VP, Chubb Group and Regional President of Asia Pacific Paul McNamee said.

“[He] has taken on increased responsibility over the last several years and has proven to be an outstanding leader with the experience and skills to continue to drive the business forward.

“His extensive network, as well as his deep understanding of Chubb and general insurance, will allow us to continue to grow and maximise our opportunities.”

Mr Kelaher first joined Chubb in 2008 as a financial lines underwriter and was later promoted to product manager for directors’ and officers’.
