Christchurch council switches to Marsh
Christchurch City Council has terminated its long-standing contract with insurance broker Aon in favour of a new arrangement with Marsh.
Aon had worked with the council since 1997 and arranged its cover before the Canterbury earthquakes.
“Council policy is that we retender contracts regularly and that’s something we’re doing progressively with all our contracts,” a council spokesman said.
“The Aon contract was rolled over for several years while staff focused on lodging claims, and we discussed with Aon our need to go back to the market.
“A number of brokers capable of handling such a substantial policy were invited to apply and Marsh was appointed.”
