Chile next in line for QBE
QBE is keeping an eye out for its next acquisition in Latin America as it exceeds expectations in four countries south of the US border.
The insurer’s Latin America GM Jose Sojo told Business News Americas QBE is eyeing its next South American acquisition.
The group already operates in Argentina, Brazil, Colombia and Mexico. The region contributed 3% of QBE’s premium income last year.
“In all four we’re performing well, which has not always been the case,” Mr Sojo said.
The continent’s southernmost nation of Chile is the next likely destination, as QBE seeks bolt-on acquisitions rather than start-up ventures in new markets.
Mr Sojo says Peru is another potential market should QBE push further into Latin America.
