CGU reassures staff on offshoring
CGU chief Peter Harmer has told staff the company will not offshore jobs during his tenure as CEO.
Mr Harmer says he has seen the trouble offshoring caused for other companies and wishes to avoid that at CGU.
The comment – in response to a question at an employees’ forum – follows reports QBE will move about 700 jobs from Australia, North America and Europe to the Philippines.
Mr Harmer confirmed the sentiments to insuranceNEWS.com.au on Friday.
“CGU has no plans to offshore positions,” he said. “Our strategic focus is on strengthening partnerships and improving service, which we believe will build competitive advantage over time.”
Last year the company announced plans to cut 600 roles over the next three years. See earlier story
