CGU acquires emergency management company

CGU has purchased emergency management group Dynamiq as the insurer strives to offer a broader range of services.

Dynamiq, founded a decade ago by former Australian Special Forces commander Anthony Moorhouse, specialises in business resilience and emergency response.

It already provides 24/7 global emergency support to corporate travel clients of Accident and Health International (AHI). CGU owns 50% of AHI and provides the security for the business.

IAG Chief Executive Commercial Insurance Ben Bessell told insuranceNEWS.com.au the aim is to offer Dynamiq’s services to a wider range of CGU clients.

“We were really attracted to the business in its own right, having met the team through AHI,” he said. “It is a great opportunity to enhance our proposition to clients and broker partners.

“It is important to look at adjacent services. To be successful, we need to look at different ways of adding value.

“[Dynamiq] is very complementary to insurance in both pre and post-loss situations.

“We’ll really start to gear up over the coming months and would like to tailor services to suit our clients or partners. There may be a fee involved in some cases, but it’s also an opportunity to embed these services into a cover.”

The Dynamiq team will stay in place, joining IAG Commercial’s agencies business under EGM Agencies Phuong Ly.

Each year Dynamiq provides medical and security assistance to more than 300,000 travellers, 200,000 expatriates and 6000 organisations.

It has a network of more than 75,000 medical, security and evacuation service providers, and Australia’s largest database of medical, security and emergency response personnel.

Mr Bessell declined to disclose the cost of the acquisition.
