Business wins at Wesfarmers

Wesfarmers’ insurance division has tasted success recently with broker OAMPS and insurer Lumley winning significant accounts.

OAMPS has been appointed to handle the insurance and risk management needs of the Australian Olympic Committee (AOC) and Australian Olympic Foundation (AOF) for the next three years after a successful tender. OAMPS will replace JLT after beating out international brokers Aon and Willis, a well-placed source told insuranceNEWS.com.au.

Head of Corporate Broking Ross Castle confirmed the win, which involves broking the day-to-day insurance needs of the AOC and AOF as well as specific requirements for this year’s Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Mr Castle says OAMPS’ expertise in sports, venues and event management – one of several client industry sectors it is focusing on in its Corporate and Specialty practice – helped it get over the line.

Client Relationship Manager Natasha Barker, a former Olympian who represented Australia in weightlifting, led OAMPS’ Olympic account bid. Mr Castle paid credit to her team, many of whom were involved in broking insurance covers for the Sydney 2000 Games.

“They had a really good understanding of the committee, its areas of concern and what their issues and needs were,” he said.

Meanwhile, Lumley has retained the Victorian Government VicFleet motor account – which it has held for 16 years – after a tender process that sources described as “arduous” and “fiercely competed”.

Lumley will provide full comprehensive motor vehicle insurance along with a specialised claims, risk management and bespoke reporting service for VicFleet, which puts the account out to tender every three years.
