Broking drives Australian Unity result
Australian Unity’s general insurance business earned $1.1 million in operating revenue for the half-year to December 31, up 31.7% from the corresponding period of 2015.
Higher broking income and improved commercial terms lifted the result, the mutual financial services company says.
The company’s overall revenue increased 43% to $901.7 million, but operating earnings fell by $500,000 to $18.2 million.
Australian Unity’s businesses comprise healthcare, wealth, independent and assisted living, and personal financial services.
Its general insurance broking business is grouped under personal financial services, which reported a 3.7% decline in half-year revenue to $32.2 million.
