Brisbane-based brokerages CityCover and DF McGarry and Associates will merge their businesses by the end of the year. The new organisation's trading name is still to be finalised.

Both brokerages are Austbrokers members, and a spokesman said the merger will provide "further potential options for growth".

Austbrokers Holdings will retain 50% equity in the new company.
