British agency logs in to Australian timber market

Britain’s Artes Specialty has launched a combined material damage and associated liability product for the commercial logging market in Australia.

The underwriting agency is offering the product in partnership with Mobius Insurance, an Australian broker and member of the Steadfast network.

Artes says the product is backed by capacity from a panel of Lloyd’s syndicates and is designed to cover all areas of commercial logging activity and associated transportation.

The product includes a material damage policy occurrence limit up to $5 million and third-party property damage and general liability limits up to $20 million.

“The design and launch of this product with … Lloyd’s syndicates further demonstrates the confidence in Artes to create solutions to complex insurance problems, where other markets have left policyholders to the uncertainty of trying to place multiple products in the open market, leading to inconsistency of cover,” Artes Specialty CEO Chris Thomas said.

Senior underwriter Amy Egglestone will oversee the product, supported by Mobius Insurance facility manager Peter Mason.

Mr Mason said: “This is a niche yet important market in Australia, and operators in this space demand an insurance solution that is competitive, yet broad in cover.

“Service is paramount and Mobius will deliver this.”
