Berkley Re Australia is to open an office in Melbourne and has appointed Kon Giannopoulos as its Southern Region Manager.

CEO Tony Piper says the region holds many opportunities, and Mr Giannopoulos is “a seasoned reinsurance professional”.

“In line with our decentralised group strategy, a Melbourne-based operation will enable us to locate these opportunities and respond quickly.”

The office opens on Friday.
