Berkley Re Australia has promoted COO Tony Piper to CEO, replacing co-founder Peter Nickerson.

Mr Nickerson will become Executive Chairman and continue reporting to Berkley Re Asia-Pacific President Grant Robson.

He will be involved in product and market development projects, acting on insights gained during his recent visit to Berkley in the UK and US.

Mr Nickerson recently hosted the Australian operation’s five-year anniversary celebrations.

He and Mr Piper have worked together for most of the past 30 years. Both appointments are effective from July 1.
