Axa XL shipping head joins Agile syndicate
Axa XL’s head of hull for the UK and Lloyd’s David Hughes will become head of marine and deputy active underwriter at Agile’s new Lloyd’s syndicate.
As insuranceNEWS.com.au has reported, Agile Syndicate 2427 has been given permission to underwrite after being established through Lloyd’s “syndicate in a box” scheme.
The Australian underwriting agency previously said the syndicate is focused on accident and health, aviation, casualty, construction, financial lines and property business – but it also made clear growth is on the cards.
“Agile anticipates writing £34.1 million ($66.18 million) of gross written premium for the 2024 year of account, rising to £62.1 million ($120.52 million) for the 2026 year of account,” managing agent Asta said in March.
Mr Hughes has spent 21 years in various roles at Axa XL and Catlin, which was acquired by XL Group in 2015, before Axa acquired XL three years later.
