Axa XL names new chiefs for distribution, underwriting

Axa XL has named Etienne Champion as Chief Underwriting Officer for Asia and Europe, and Bruno Laval as Chief Distribution Officer Asia and Europe as part of changes to its insurance operating model.

Australia falls under their remit as the market is now grouped under Asia and Europe in the new model that was announced in April.

“With our shift to a more regional structure, we’re looking to simplify our operations and empower our teams locally, in alignment with Axa Group’s strategy,” CEO Asia and Europe Xavier Veyry said.

“Through these appointments, we are ensuring that we are leveraging our talent, are best equipped to manage a very broad and diverse set of markets, and are closer to our broking partners and clients.”

A spokesman for Axa XL told insuranceNEWS.com.au the insurer expects to announce the country leaders for its Asia Pacific markets, including for Australia, in the near future.

The spokesman says Sydney-based Regional Manager Asia Pacific Craig Langham has been looking after the market since Australia Country Head Robin Johnson left in May.
