Auto & General starts search for local CEO

Auto & General will conduct a comprehensive search for a new local CEO after the departure of John Myler who has resigned from the top job after 15 months in the role.

A statement from the South African insurer emailed to insuranceNEWS.com.au says Brisbane-based Mr Myler decided to pursue other career opportunities.

“I have thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to make a significant contribution to the Auto & General Insurance Australia business,” Mr Myler said in the statement, adding he looked forward to seeing Auto & General’s ongoing success.

Group MD & CEO Asia Pacific Ram Kangatharan is acting CEO of Insurance Australia while a replacement is appointed.

Mr Myler joined Auto & General at the start of 2020, taking over from Mr Kangatharan on his promotion to Group CEO for Asia Pacific. Mr Myler was formerly CEO of both RACQ Insurance and Allianz Global Assistance Australia and New Zealand.

“He has made a significant contribution to our culture and we wish him all the best with his future endeavours,” Mr Kangatharan said.

The Auto & General website says it underwrites the insurance brands of Budget Direct, 1st for Women, Ozicare and Virgin Money. It also underwrites car and home insurance for Qantas.
