Australian sports specialist in Canada deal
Specialist Australian underwriter Sportscover is heading into the Canadian market, announcing a joint venture with leading general underwriter WJ Sutton and Company.
The new Sutton Sportscover Limited will offer a broad range of insurance for sports federations, associations and clubs.
Sportscover director Chris Nash says WJ Sutton is well known for its sports insurance, but until now has worked only with professional organisations such as the National Hockey League. It has also been limited in scope, offering only personal accident cover.
He says Sportscover's knowledge of amateur sports markets, broader policy range and Lloyd's syndication make the joint venture a natural fit for both companies.
