Australia and NZ give Marsh a boost

Asia-Pacific has emerged as one of Marsh’s prime growth regions, with the broker’s Australian and New Zealand operations outperforming global peers in the latest quarter.

New Zealand and Australia both reported strong revenue growth in the second quarter, up 14.5% and 9.1% respectively and well ahead of reported figures for Asia-Pacific and Marsh’s global operations.

Asia-Pacific revenue increased 6% to $US181 million ($173.6 million), while global operations were up 4% at $US1.413 billion ($1.35 billion). Revenue figures for Australia and New Zealand were not available.

For the half-year, New Zealand and Australia again outperformed global operations, posting 17.9% and 8.6% surges in revenue respectively.

Asia-Pacific first-half revenue rose 10% to $US323 million ($309.8 million), making it the second-best performer in the Marsh group ahead of Latin America, up 12% to $US161 million ($154.4 million).

Globally, Marsh reported a 6% rise in revenue to $US2.79 billion ($2.68 billion).
