Austbrokers lands in Tasmania

Austbrokers has made its first foray into the Tasmanian market, buying a share in Hobart’s BGA Insurance Brokers.

BGA founding principals Brett Wilkinson and Grant Butters will continue as directors and shareholders in the business, which will trade as Austbrokers BGA.

Mr Butters says a number of suitors had approached the group but Austbrokers provides value through specialist underwriting facilities and infrastructure, plus software support.

Austbrokers CEO Lach McKeough has welcomed the principals of the former IBNA member company into the “Austbrokers family”.

“We’ve been wanting to get the right fit in Tasmania for some years and create a strong presence for the future in the local market,” he said.
