Arena announces Berkley deal
Arena Underwriting has agreed a deal for Berkley Insurance Australia to provide security for many of its lines.
The events and entertainment specialist will work with Berkley from October 1 in lines including public and product liability, professional indemnity, management liability, prize indemnity, cancellation of events and voluntary workers’ personal accident.
Arena, based in Hamilton, NSW, was established by Calliden and Action Entertainment Insurance in 2007, but Calliden sold its half of the business to Action last year.
Berkley replaces current insurer Calliden, and Chubb remains the insurer on equipment cover.
Arena GM Paul Howard told insuranceNEWS.com.au the tie-up will bring new opportunities.
“It will give us the capacity to expand our appetite and enter new areas and product lines,” he said. “It opens up more possibilities in the events and entertainment area, and being aligned with an A+ rated insurer provides stability for brokers and clients.”
Steadfast bought Calliden in December before selling its general insurance operations to Munich Re.
