Aon’s Donnelly moves to Marsh

Aon Risk Solutions Chief Broking Officer Pacific John Donnelly will join Marsh later this year as MD and Head of Placement for Asia-Pacific.

Mr Donnelly, who was appointed to the Aon position last August, will make the switch to Marsh when his notice period ends in November.

Based in Sydney, he will drive Marsh’s retail and wholesale placement strategy, reporting to CEO Asia-Pacific Martin South.

Mr Donnelly has 35 years’ industry experience and previously worked for Marsh from 1983 to 1998. He later worked at JLT Risk Solutions.

“Having someone of John’s calibre will significantly boost our placement capability in Asia-Pacific,” Mr South said.

Mr Donnelly’s successor at Aon will be James Baum, who will take up the position immediately.

Mr Baum has been with Aon for eight years, most recently as chief broking officer for Australia.

He previously worked with international broking firms in Australia and London and has 20 years’ experience in the industry.

“James will be a great leader of our broking services in the Pacific region and our talented broking team of more than 40 colleagues,” CEO Steve Nevett said.
