Aon has appointed leaders for two senior Asia Pacific natural resources roles as the energy and mining sector adapts to a changing landscape.

Melissa Shepherdson will become Head of Energy and Mining and Richard Nunny has been appointed Head of Renewable Energy

Mr Nunny joins Aon from BMS Group, where he was Head of Power and Energy – Australia, and will be based in Sydney.

“As the renewable energy sector continues to gain momentum across the globe, the development of renewable energy solutions across the Asia Pacific region will play an important role in driving this energy transition to a cleaner future,” Mr Nunny said.

Assisting clients through the delivery of innovative and effective risk transfer solutions and helping them rethink access to new forms of capital will be key to the role, he says.

Ms Shepherdson, based in Singapore, is currently Head of Energy and Mining Asia, and has been with Aon for more than 20 years. She will continue to oversee the portfolio for Asia.

“With the changing landscape of the oil, gas and mining industry driven by Environmental, Social and Governance strategies, as advisors we need to be at the forefront of developing offerings to support with energy transition amid emerging volatility,” Ms Shepherdson said.
