Aon Risk Solutions has appointed James Baum to key positions in its Australian commercial and broking businesses, as it pursues greater alignment between the two operations.

Mr Baum was last week named Aon Broking Chairman and Commercial MD, reporting in both capacities to Aon Risk Solutions Australia CEO Lambros Lambrou.

The expanded role builds on Mr Baum’s most recent responsibilities as MD and chief broking officer, Pacific.

“In his previous [position], James played an integral role in the development of the commercial business’ go-to-market strategy, taking on increased responsibilities beyond the broking remit,” Mr Lambrou said. “In doing so, Aon recognised the benefits of greater alignment between the commercial and broking businesses.”

Aon aims to accomplish “ambitious growth targets” and continue realising the potential of its business and its branch network.

Mr Baum takes over the commercial leadership position from Ian McLellan.
