International broker Aon has acquired Melbourne-based brokerage Freeman McMurrick. While neither party could comment on the deal, Freeman McMurrick has informed many of its clients and staff of the sale.

It is understood that the company will still be known as Freeman McMurrick, but Aon may add its name to a division of the business.

With its head office located in Melbourne, the brokerage also has offices in Sydney, Canberra and Brisbane.
