Ansvar recruits new CEO
Ansvar Insurance has appointed Warren Hutcheon as CEO.
Mr Hutcheon is currently CEO of the Victorian Managed Insurance Authority, where he has led a turnaround in the business.
“Ansvar has been on a similar journey and we’re now at a level where someone of Warren’s considerable leadership and calibre can take [us] to the next level,” Ansvar Chairman Nicholas Barnett said.
Mr Hutcheon will take over from Deirdre Blythe, who took the role on an interim basis after Andrew Moon resigned in December to recover from major surgery.
Mr Moon joined Ansvar in 2010 and led it through a tumultuous period, starting with a restructure in which the specialist insurer quit household and motor cover – about 80% of its policies – to concentrate on churches, community, care, education and heritage.
Ms Blythe has become a executive director and will resume her former CFO role.
Mr Hutcheon will join the Australian board and be part of the Ecclesiastical Insurance Group leadership team, reporting to Canada-based Deputy Group CEO Jacinta Whyte.
His previous experience includes 25 years at CGU, where he held senior management positions such as head of commercial and director of strategic initiatives.
Mr Hutcheon will begin his new role in early May.
