Ansvar pursues growth following overhaul
Ansvar has finished its restructuring and aims to build on the transformation in the coming year, Acting CEO Deirdre Blythe says.
It expects to appoint a CEO in the next four to five months to replace Andrew Moon, who resigned this month to concentrate on recovering from major surgery in October.
Mr Moon joined Ansvar in 2010 and led it through a tumultuous period, starting with a restructure in which the specialist insurer quit household and motor cover – about 80% of its policies – to concentrate on churches, community, care, education and heritage.
Ansvar was halfway through the program when the Christchurch earthquakes began, destroying many of its clients’ historic properties and leading the company to quit the New Zealand market after suffering huge losses.
Ms Blythe told insuranceNEWS.com.au Ansvar has emerged stronger from the period of significant change and will now build a stronger presence with brokers and customers.
She says a new website, launched last week, gives brokers information on challenges and risk exposures in the company’s core sectors, promotes its specialist expertise and gives insights to clients’ industries.
“It really plays to our role as an expert and specialist in our segment. Our hope is that the website will continue to deepen the association our intermediary partners have with Ansvar.”
The board has begun an internal and external search for Mr Moon’s replacement. Ms Blythe says he has been an inspirational leader who left a strong executive team.
“We know what we need to do and it’s very much business as usual,” she said.
