Ansvar names deputy CEO under model overhaul

Ansvar chief underwriting officer Peter Bailey’s role has been expanded to include deputy CEO duties.

The church insurer says the move comes amid “key changes” to its operating model.

“These result from listening to our brokers and customers on how we can improve our support and deliver better service.

“We will be in contact with our key business partners and major customers to discuss this in more detail over the next few weeks.”

Sydney-based Mr Bailey joined Ansvar in April last year after a decade at AIG Australia, mostly as head of portfolio solutions.

He previously served as Dual Australia’s MD for three years and spent 1996 to 2005 at QBE in Sydney and London. He was also Calliden Insurance’s underwriting director for five years and FAI division manager in the 1990s.

In the expanded role, he will lead both technical and distribution divisions.

“This appointment aligns with our underwriting and commercial priorities, positioning Ansvar for increased sustainable growth, innovation and deeper sector specialisation,” the insurer said.

Ansvar serves the care, community, faith, education and heritage sectors.

Earlier this month, Michael Grantham stepped down as a director after nine years on the Ansvar board.

Elisabet Wreme joined the board last month. She is a former Guild Group COO and was previously at Telstra and National Australia Bank in technology and business operations roles.
