AMP slashes 300 jobs

Financial services conglomerate AMP cut a total of 300 jobs in the last quarter of 2008 and isn’t ruling out more redundancies.

An AMP spokesman told insuranceNEWS.com.au 300 roles were made redundant to “do what’s right for the business” over the long term and manage costs tightly in the short term.

“The affected roles were across various parts of the group,” she said. “Further redundancies cannot be ruled in or out.

“In making these cost decisions, AMP took great care not to compromise key investment management capabilities and customer relationship management.”
